There Seems to be a Dramatic Increase in Volcanic Activity and Earthquakes!

For many years I have had a great interest in the earth’s geology; the tectonic plates interaction has profoundly impacted life in those areas affected. The “Ring of Fire” which includes the entire West Coast of the United States is a case in point.

The San Andreas Fault is probably the best known example of a problem created by the interaction of two tectonic plates as the North American plate moves in a northerly direction while the Pacific plate is moving in a southerly direction.

In “Back to the Future on the San Andreas Fault By Earthquake Hazards Program May 31, 2017″ they write:

“There are only two large known historic earthquakes on the San Andreas Fault in southern CA, the most recent in 1857, and before that one in 1812. With about 45 years between the historic earthquakes but about 160 years since the last one, it is clear that the fault does not behave like a clock with a regular beat.”

If the San Andreas Fault has been locked for 169 years today, it’s kind of scary to think what might happen when it finally slips!

The Ring of Fire is only a part of the seismic activity being experienced around the world today.

The Smithsonian Institution published a list of volcanoes that were erupting:

“Overall, 45 volcanoes were in continuing eruption status as of 30 December 2025. An eruption marked as “continuing” does not always mean persistent daily activity, but indicates at least intermittent eruptive events without a break of 3 months or more. There are typically 40-50 continuing eruptions, and out of those generally around 20 will be actively erupting on any particular day (compiling statistics on daily activity is in progress). Additional annual eruption data is available for recent years.”

A supervolcano, named Campi Flegrei, is not included on the Smithsonian list as it is not currently erupting. It is, however, exhibiting some very disturbing symptoms:

“Campi Flegrei, a large, active caldera near Naples, Italy, is experiencing significant seismic unrest and ground deformation, with over 500,000 residents living in its immediate hazard zone. While it is classified as a restless supervolcano that last erupted in 1538, current data suggests that while the crust is under strain, an imminent, large-scale eruption is not guaranteed, despite ongoing magma accumulation.” Google AI Overview

What is the Meaning of All This?

As with everything else in my life, I see a Biblical connection. We are told in the Bible of world conditions in the last days.

“⁶ And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. ⁷ For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. ⁸ All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.” Matthew 24:6-8

I suspect we can all agree a lot of that is going around all over the world. It would appear, the earth has started getting its own version of birth pains. Each day that passes brings us closer to the Lords return and I, for one, eagerly anticipate his return!

I encourage you to be ready to meet the Lord; you will meet him, you know, either as a member of God’s family, by faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior, or as his enemy who will spend all eternity in the Lake of Fire.

¹¹ Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. ¹² And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life.
