About

I cannot remember a time when I didn’t know and love the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal savior. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas and with the exception of service in the United States Navy and a few years out of town for college and work have lived here all of my life. I graduated from the University of Houston in 1959 after serving in the United States Navy.

Age has impacted my activities around the house, I continue to devote a large amount of my time to Global Media Outreach and also enjoy publishing my blog when the Holy Spirit moves me. We are at the point in life where the challenges of just living seem to take so much out of us.

The older I get, the more grateful I am to the Lord for his careful planning of my life; I think often of the deep significance of Psalms 139:16 and rejoice my times are in his hands!

My wife and I have been married for 72 years and are both enjoying my so-called retirement. We have three children, five grandchildren, two grandsons-in-law, a granddaughter-in-law, three great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons.

As a young man I attended Dallas Theological Seminary and had hoped to find a place in ministry, but serious financial reverses ended my studies at seminary. It pleased the Lord to place me instead in the home building business where I worked for 36 years. In His grace our Lord permitted me to teach the Bible to many different classes for over 43 years and then, after a break of over 45 years, permitted me to return to Dallas Theological Seminary and graduate in May of 2009. I feel so richly blessed by His hand of grace!

Since 2012 I have worked as a volunteer missionary for Global Media Outreach and have the opportunity to help people all over the world with their questions and concerns about Christianity and the Christian life. I have published essays on “Life from a Christian Perspective” online since 2011.

My delight is in the Lord and those things that are His; I look forward very earnestly to the Lord’s return and rejoice in its certainty.

I have been retired from the home-building business since 2004 and lived with my beloved wife in our home in Kingwood, Texas since 1975. On February 8th of 2025, I fell and broke my neck. We now live in a senior living facility across town.

Thank you dear brother in Christ, at 85 years of age even a short trip downtown is a big undertaking for me; a trip to Nigeria will have to wait for my resurrection body I think. Although I cannot come in person I can send my written thoughts to you and will be happy to offer any spiritual advice I can in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
      In Christ’s love,
      David

Hi David, my name is Blake Howard. I live in Tulsa, OK and I wanted to tell you thank you for living by example for Christ. I always pray before my business meetings to ask Christ for peace, humility, and joy in the hearts of myself and all attendees. Today I met with a mutual friend of ours, Steve Sheffer, who shares our collective passion for building the Kingdom of God in Christ Jesus. We had met for introductory purposes and other business purposes, but our belief that the Holy Spirit is meant to guide our conversations allowed us to be patient, humble and joyful sharing stories of our faith and friendships. We were talking about food poisoning, funny enough, when Steve first mentioned your name. I understand you two worked together and one day he was so sick that he was laying on the office floor when you calmly asked, “So when are you going to the doctor?” He said this was right on brand for you. All that to say, Steve spoke of your bold faith you showed him from the moment he met you and how it changed his walk with Jesus for the better — which then led to him sharing the testimony with me today. Again, thank you showing how we can all confidently live for Christ.

    God bless you!

    Best,

    Blake in Tulsa

      Hello Blake,

Thank you for your comment and introduction; it is always a joy to meet a new brother in Christ! I have fond memories of Steve, please tell him hello for me. Your comment on “praying before my business meetings” triggered a series of thoughts; my son, Keith, is a Chairman with C 12, an organization devoted to promoting the Christian perspective in the business environment.

The Lord has been very gracious to me in my retirement, I work as a volunteer for Global Media Outreach and publish this blog on “LIfe from a Chrisitan Perspective.” My joy and delight is to faithfully serve the Lord Jesus Christ in the manner he permits and to know and fully understand my times are in his hands.

      Your brother in Christ,

      David

Most places I researched the Feast of Trumpets say that it a one day (24 – 25 hours) event. How is it you and a few other places I saw today show it as a two dayt (48 hour) celebration?!? I understand that the Jewish day goes from sunset the day before to sunset the day of a date. But that means sunset on 9/22/25 to sunset on 9/23/25 OR sunset on 9/23/25 to sunset on 9/24/25, BUT NOT sunset on 9/22/25 to sunset 9/24/25. In addition, I just saw a site stating the Feast starts at sunset on 9/25/25 and ends at sunset on 9/26/95. I can only assume that people either don’t know what they are talking about, or are DELIBERATELY trying to confuse people so they are not ready and miss the Rapture. Traditionally, the first day of the month is determined by when two witnesses BOTH see the Sliver Moon after the New Moon, but that can be delayed by various factors, which is why the Feast of Trumpets is called the Feast that NoOne Knows the Day or the Hour. Regardless of the starting date, the Feast is only one day long, according to most sites.

I was also trying to find the schedule for the the 100 blasts on the Trumpets. I saw one a few days ago and was trying to confirm what I think it said, but with all the different dates being thrown around I don’t know if I can trust the time schedule of the blowing of the Trumpets. From what I remember from what I saw, the 100 blasts can only be during the day (in Jerusalem) and have to end with the Last Trump at around noon, which would be 5 AM EDT, 4 AM CDT, and 2 AM PDT (coming as a thief in the night.)

It is only one day but the Jews set aside two days for the reason you stated below:
“Traditionally, the first day of the month is determined by when two witnesses BOTH see the Sliver Moon after the New Moon, but that can be delayed by various factors, which is why the Feast of Trumpets is called the Feast that No One Knows the Day or the Hour. Regardless of the starting date, the Feast is only one day long, according to most sites.” The sighting of the new moon triggers the beginning of the one day of observance. Jewish sources tell us: “Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year. Marking the day G‑d created Adam and Eve, it’s celebrated as the “birthday of the world.” The festival of Rosh Hashanah 5786 begins at sundown on the eve of Tishrei 1 (Sept. 22, 2025) and ends after nightfall on Tishrei 2 (Sept. 24, 2025).” https://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/4644/jewish/Rosh-Hashanah-2025.htm

Regarding the Rapture, this event is orchestrated and managed by God; all born again believers will be caught up regardless of their level of confusion or ignorance about prophecy. Thank you for taking the time to comment!

The return of Christ is very near! Are we ready? 《4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and earthquakes. 8All this will only be the beginning of sorrows.[And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences (illnesses); and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven…][20 When you see JerUSAlem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city.]And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption is drawing near !] 14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.》
