What Does Reality Have to Say About Your Personal Situation?
Adam’s Sin Brought Ruin and Death
If you have a human father, then you were born with a dead spirit and a living sin nature. As a descendant of Adam, you died spiritually in Adam, in the Garden of Eden, when Adam disobeyed God’s direct command. Your only hope is to be born again into the family of God by faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. In Ephesians 2:8-9 it is written:
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
A key point is the second sentence, “And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” You cannot choose God because you are spiritually dead, you must wait on the gift of God’s call to your dead spirit to rise from your spiritual grave! Then, and only then, can your resurrected spirit respond to Jesus and seek Jesus Christ as Savior.
The new birth is the only way to the kingdom of God! In John 3, the Lord is speaking to Nicodemus and focuses attention immediately on the vital necessity of being born again!
3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
There you have it, the world today is divided into two types of human beings, those called by the father as gifts to the Son, and those who have not been called. In John 6:37-40 it is written:
37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
What Does Reality Have to Say About Your Birth Place?
You, and all of your generations before you, have been born on a spiritual battlefield called Earth. I have written more on that in the series, “To The Soldiers in The Spiritual War!” You will live your entire mortal life immersed in this spiritual war.
To complicate matters, you have a treacherous sin nature living in you seeking to aid the evil forces seeking to dominate the battlefield. You will have this sin nature, which you inherited from Adam, as long as you inhabit the fallen body in which you were born.
Earth was created somewhat less than 10,000 years ago. At the time of its creation, it was very good, a place of peace and harmony. That was changed when Adam brought sin into the world by disobeying a direct command from God. I have written more on that in a series that starts with, “The Garden of Eden”
From that point on, the situation continued to deteriorate until it got so bad, God decided to destroy every living thing that he had not called to the ark, built by Noah. The resulting cataclysm, which included a world-wide flood, reshaped the earth into what we have today!
The entire Earth, as it is today, is the direct results of that one cataclysmic event! Whereas it had been created to be a very good place, it had now become a place filled with dangers and challenges. Paul summarizes the situation in Romans 8:18-25 where it is written:
18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
