Turning Points in History
As I study history I am impressed by the nature of those events that dramatically alter life for those living at the time. When these events occur the life-changing nature of the events is rarely understood. Something happens which may cause temporary problems or inconveniences but the thought that one’s life may be changing forever rarely occurs to witnesses of the event.
It is always difficult to understand that our way of life is a transient phenomenon and comes with no guarantees. Our lives have often followed a rather predictable pattern which we expect to continue with, perhaps, minor alterations and adjustments for the balance of our natural lives.
I believe it is possible that the November election may be one of those turning points in the history of the United States. If that just happens to be the case then we should approach this turning point with great caution. I would like to address some of the factors that may be involved in this particular turning point.
I believe that we, as a nation, are standing in God’s balance and may be in danger of being found wanting. I’ll continue this topic in my next blog.
