Faith Versus Sight, An Opportunity to Choose!
The Wuhan Flu Pandemic is taking center stage in the media recently as its world-wide impact changes the way we live. Each of us must make a decision; how are we going to respond to these new, and unexpected circumstances.
The Bible makes it clear; in 2 Corinthians 5:7, it is written: 7 For we live by believing and not by seeing.
For us, as Christians, we must make our faith the basis for our lives, not the world situation of the moment. The Wuhan Pandemic, just like everything else on this earth, has come to pass and pass it will.
While it is transient, we must never forget: “8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
At a time like this, we simply must focus our attention on the Lord’s command to us in Philippians 4:4-9:
“4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
What a refreshing change from the non-stop “press conferences” of every day.
Thank you, Brother Bower!!

I find it helpful to keep my mind properly oriented on spiritual truths.

Only Christ will get me through this. Not because of news directly but in keeping family and friends level headed in this maelstrom.

I’m reminded of a favorite hymn; the words are very appropriate at a time like this:
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
2
Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conqu’rors we are!
3
His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
Believe Him and all will be well;
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
