Is Laughter Filling the Throne Room of God?
In Psalms 2:1-6 it is written:
Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”
4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:
6 “Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.”
The world seems to be filled today with groups of people plotting against other groups of people; various governments and government factions plotting against other governments and government factions; it’s all getting rather tiresome! The level of turmoil and confusion in the United States and all over the world has reached peaks I have never before seen even in the Second World War.
The Bible is very clear, it has predicted times such as this would be part of the last-days; as the end of this age draws ever closer, we have been warned such things would take place on an increasing scale. Personally witnessing such things happen has a much greater potential for causing stress than simply reading about it in Biblical prophecy.
A Marvelous and Timely Sermon!
This past Sunday, I had the privilege of hearing the most timely and powerful sermon I’ve heard in years! It was based on Daniel 7, which covers the vision given to Daniel by God, of the kingdoms which would dominate the world right up to the return of the Lord Jesus Christ as King of kings and Lord of lords. This prophecy does include the world today and describes where this is leading all of us.
While I have studied the prophecies in Daniel for many years and found them to be intensely interesting and helpful; the sermon I heard Sunday provided an application which had never before occurred to me. The application became the catalyst for this entire essay and I want to share it with you.
While a great deal has already happened, and even more dramatic things are going to happen before it is all finished, the fact of the matter is:
WE WON!!!!!
Our Creator God, who exists outside of time as well as within the time-stream, sees the past the present and the future with equal clarity and precision! On top of that, our Creator God is working all things after the counsel of his own will! He can already see our victory and the celebrations associated with our victory. We have won.
To illustrate his point, the pastor used a recording of an important ball game as an example. Devoted fans will watch a particularly important game over again as a replay and enjoy it even more. Temporary set-backs are taken in stride as the final results have already been firmly established; our team wins!
This is the attitude we, as Christians, should have concerning world events today. The battle for world domination has already been won and our side wins! We should watch world events with the relaxed assurance that our team emerges with a resounding victory.
Do yourself a big favor, adopt the replay perspective on world events, OK? Look at it all from a divine perspective and join in the laughter!
You and Keith make a good tag team. I find that your comments about watching the world events with a sense of humor reinforces my decision several years ago to forgo any network news. I had not thought about humor in all of this but I do now. Thanks gentlemen.
